Coach Michelle

michelleMichelle Talley-Dabney was born on October 19, 1959, the first child of Charlie and Agatha Talley, in Newark, New Jersey.  In 1968 her family moved to Plainfield.

Coach Michelle graduated from Plainfield High School.  While in high school she was the class secretary for 2 years.  Coach Michelle developed a passion for running while at Plainfield High School, she was the team captain.  Her competitive events were the half mile, 400 meters and the 4 x 400 relay.  Coach Michelle was also the first female athlete to receive an athletic scholarship.  She attended Delaware State College and graduated from Kean University in 1997 with a degree in Sociology.  Coach Michelle is currently pursuing her Masters in Sociology.

Coach Michelle has worked for Newark Beth Israel Medical Center as a secretary for seven years; AT&T as an associate manager for DSL (Digital Services Line) managing the development of new billing initiatives for 17 years and Plainfield Public School District as a substitute, teachers assistant and as a teacher for four years.

Coach Michelle began coaching with Plainfield Tsunami when the name of the team was Pro-Con Track Club, approximately 15 years ago.  She is currently the program coordinator for the team.  The team name was changed through the request of an athlete a year after she joined, to Tsunami (soo-na-me) which means in Japanese term for a very large ocean wave caused by an underwater earthquake or volcanic eruption.
