Broken but not deterred ……
It was the end of indoor season that Jenai (nicknamed Practice) started to complain about a pain in her foot. When the pain didn’t go away her mom took her to the doctor and it was determined that she had a stress fracture and would be out for 4 to 6 weeks. Jenai would have none of that; together with her mom and the coaches they developed a training plan which included core work with her teammates twice a week and on long run days with the team Jenai rode her bike. All of this helped Jenai stay in contact with her teammates and her fitness goals.
When championship season began, Jenai was ready. After sweeping through the association meet and the regionals, the AAU nationals rolled around and Jenai was on her way to nationals.  Matched up against the best 12 year old 800 meter runners in the country, Jenai finished 5th.
Very impressive for someone who was supposed to miss the first 3rd of the season with injury.
Great Job Jenai!!!
