Parent’s Corner

Good day,

The athletes had a full month of training that culminated with time trials on Thursday. They are progressing from building their base to training for competition. The coaches are really pleased with the effort and enthusiasm displayed by the athletes. The first scheduled meet is on January 6th and we are preparing so that our athletes would have a positive experience.

It was wonderful to have a perfect attendance on our first Thursday practice of the season. Everyone was on time and ready to train. We continue to encourage the athletes to arrive at practice in time to warm up and be ready for the group dynamic stretching that starts promptly at 6:40. At the time of stretching, we hold important discussions on a myriad of relevant topics, of which all the athletes would benefit.

Practices are held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for the mighty mites and Monday through Thursday for the older groups. The coaches plan weekly workouts designed to work different systems for the total development of the athletes. So note, when athletes miss a day of practice, they are missing the opportunity to develop a particular system, be it aerobic, speed, speed endurance, agility, strength, total body conditioning, etc. Also, please have your athlete bring his or her well-padded yoga mat every day to practice to be able to do vital floor exercises. We have been avoiding certain beneficial exercises because the floor is too hard.
